TEXAS: Esses Racing drivers dominate Blue Marble Radical Cup at Road Atlanta

Esses Racing driver, Palmer Miller, may have to invest in a larger trophy case after the Blue Marble Radical Cup round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on September 24th-26th, 2021.

Esses Racing supported 4 drivers over the race weekend. The lineup consisted of three drivers in the PLATINUM Class and one in the PRO1500 Class. Todd Solomon and Judd Miller drove their new turbocharged Radical SR10s. Conrad Park was the only driver of the race weekend who drove a closed-cockpit Radical RXC.

Palmer Miller drove Esses Racing / Radical Texas‘ solid white demo Radical SR3 XX. He is still awaiting the repair of his Texas- themed Radical SR3 XX named “Lone Star” to be repaired, after hitting the wall at Road America.

Palmer’s sister, Natalie Miller and his dedicated Race Technician, Alan Yulli wanted to make sure he could be easily spotted on track. They took it upon themselves to adorn the car with neon orange accents and “Esses Racing” decals in between sessions.

Practice Sessions

A driver crashed at turn one, leaving debris on track that Todd was unable to avoid. His practice session was cut short and his SR10 needed a new radiator. Thankfully, the Esses Racing crew came prepared with a spare. Repairs were made and he was back on track in time to run 1:24s during the next practice session!

Unfortunately, Conrad made contact with the wall at turn 6 during the last practice session. Thankfully, he was not injured and even joked, “Well, at least I got that out of my system!” The damage was too severe to repair trackside, so he spent the weekend supporting his teammates on the sidelines.

Qualifying

Esses Racing drivers impressed during qualifying, with all three drivers set up to start race 1 in the first 4 rows. The young Palmer Miller qualified with a lap that put him at the top of his class.

Race 1

Palmer earned a spot on the podium after battling Gustavo Rafols throughout the race and finished P2.

Todd finished P5 and Judd’s race suffered after having to pit early due to issues with his back left wheel.

Judd refused to let his position in race 1 hinder the rest of his weekend. He spent the rest of race 1 determined to throw down a lap that would put him on the front row for race 2.

Race 2

The Father Son Miller duo conquered race 2 and were ecstatic to both make it on the podium. Judd finished P2 overall and Palmer finished P1 in class (P6 overall).

Race 3

Race 3 contains a mandatory pit stop that can make or break a driver’s race. Todd had a solid race, finishing P4 overall. Palmer was on the podium for the third time and earned a trophy for P2.

Judd finished P2 overall, but unfortunately, did not make podium. He suffered a penalty after mis-timing his mandatory pit stop by 0.5 seconds.
