Phil started on the short tracks of up state New York state as a young aspiring driver, then as a mechanic with winning NASCAR modified and International Supermodified Association teams. After completing an automotive technology degree, Phil ventured into road racing. Sticking with his open wheel roots, Formula Ford Racer, FORMULA 2000 and Atlantics were the focus, with his team securing countless wins and championships.

After ending team operations, the next twenty years Phil worked for TWR with prototypes, American Equipment’s TransAm team, the Indycar teams of Patrick Racing, Galles Racing and Cobb Racing. “They were exciting times then, now the excitement is with Esses Racing”,said Phil.
